Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile

I really enjoyed by stay at Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah. I stayed in a cabin from September 15-18, 2025. The cabin was great; cute, clean, comfortable, had what I needed. The soap and lotion, towels, bed were all great. The setting was beautiful, red rocks and wilderness in the back. I went on several tours which was a great way to get an overview of the Sanctuary, and also hiked some trails. I greatly appreciated the healthy vegan food at the excellent village cafe, as an animal lover, I respect the ethic of vegan food. I loved the opportunity to volunteer with the animals. I walked some dogs from the Welcome Center, worked at Cat World brushing cats and cleaning a room, and had two Kitty sleep overs on two different nights with Esperanza and Eula May--they were both sweet, beatiful, well behaved and snuggly! I hope they find forever homes. The staff were friendly, compassionate, and helpful. I loved my stay at Best Friends Sanctuary in Kanab and hope I can visit again!

The Bestfriends Roadhouse is a fabulous place to stay especially with your pet. We had our large dog with us and loved the amenities. The room we had was lovely, super clean and so pet friendly. The grounds are landscaped in a xeric but lush manner with really nice pet play yards. All the staff were welcoming and it is a great location for walking downtown or to nearby trailheads.

Everything at the Best Friends Roadhouse is top notch! It's easily the best place we've stayed at with our three dogs. Everything is thought of for your and your pets convenience. There are dog and cat food and water bowls in the rooms. There is an inner door to keep the animals inside when you are entering or exiting the room. There are two pet play areas that are really great. A pet washing station, a laundry room and breakfast in their little gift shop. The staff is super nice too. You really can't go wrong staying here. Now if they would just get a pool and hot tub...

This place is so wonderful, it would be worth any reroute just to be able to stay! The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, the surrounding landscape is breathtaking, and my dogs were in heaven with the outdoor fenced-in yard and dog beds in the room. Definitely will be going back!

Wonderful service for us and our kitties. The room was nice and big. Totally set up for pets and we love it. Those cookies at check in are awesome!! The laundry room is handy. Employees are awesome and very helpful.

They really have thought of everything to make you and your pets comfortable. We loved that the room had it's own foyer/mudroom. That made it so easy to bring the dogs in and out and there was no worry about one of them running out the door. Nice dog park. The staff was incredibly friendly.. love the mercantile/coffee shop. They allow up to 4 pets and zero pet fees which is unheard of. Convenient location at the edge of town. Would definitely stay here again!

This place was so well thought out when it was built. For humans and dogs, it’s perfection. There’s a free pet spa, free laundry that comes with stuff to do your laundry, two dog parks, dog bowls in the room, dog beds in the room underneath the beds, free ear plugs (which helped me because my husband was snoring like crazy), and so many more amenities. The free continental breakfast has a wide range of vegan options and the coffee is great. The people that work here are all so friendly. Somehow, the entire motel grounds are clean and look much better than hotels we’ve stayed at around the world, despite this being a heavy pet visited area. We were also welcomed with free goodies for our dogs and humans and free lunch buffet tickets. We will definitely be back to stay again!

I was traveling from Phoenix to Salt Lake with my puppy and needed a place to stay to break up his first road trip. I searched pet friendly hotels and came across Best Friends Roadhouse. I ended up enjoying our stay so much, I booked again on our way back! From the start the staff was very accommodating. My puppy was being a little crazy and super high energy, but I didn't feel any judgement. Our room was super clean, with no traces of other pets staying there before. They provided bowls, dog towels, and clear shelves so he couldn't get into anything. Even the complementary pet bed had no pet hair! The double door feature was super convenient, as we are still working on door training. I also noted the wifi - it was fast and reliable and I was able to get some work done. The grounds were clear of pet waste and odor free. My pup LOVED running around the dog park before we had to get on the road. I cannot recommend this place enough!!
